The slippers are constructed from two layers of kidskin to accommodate the extreme sensitivity of her skin. The are made without an insole or sole and sent to her for a fitting. Excess leather is left on the bottom to allow us to make them larger in any area that pinches. The Early Renaissance style will compliment her existing clothing and give her lots of flexibility for new gowns. the style can be used for mid 16th century styles as well as carry into the early 17th century. We should have the finished shoes ready for her in about two weeks.

In addition the woman is a vendor at those events and needs to be on her feet all day making comfort [...]]]> The challenge is to design a pair of pirate boots that can be worn with Renaissance garb at SCA  events,  Renn Faires, and at Pirate events. Jumping two centuries with one pair of boots! In addition the woman is a vendor at those events and needs to be on her feet all day making comfort the primary goal. We are starting with a translation of a pair of 16th century French slippers to model the toes after, then adding a boot top with cuff details to match the toe. The idea being that the toe will peak out from under her skirts and look like a fancy slipper and the boots can have pants tucked into the top for a swashbuckling pirate wench. The mock up is on it’s way for a fitting and critique. We’ll see if we scored in a couple of days.
